The initial release week of Believe It, the memoir of Super Bowl LII MVP Nick Foles that I had the privilege of collaborating with him on, was a huge success! Nick went on a weeklong book tour that included 50-plus interviews featuring lots of major TV shows such as ABC’s “Good Morning America,” ESPN’s “Get Up!”, Fox News, and many others. He also made 11 bookstore stops throughout Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey where he signed about 13,500 copies of the books for fans. At some locations, the lines of people waiting outside were at least 400 deep!
Everyone knows Philly fans are passionate about the Eagles. So their excitement surrounding the franchise’s first Super Bowl victory last season is no surprise. But I think what happened last week on Nick’s Believe It book tour goes much deeper than that. His backup-to-MVP story resonated with people. His career struggles, remarkable humility and raw candor along the way inspired folks. Everybody loves a winner. But a winner who embraces weakness, deflects praise to his Creator, adores his wife and his daughter, and reminds you of the amiable guy next door? Now that’s truly special. Nick also graciously gave me lots of time during the 2017 season as I worked on another book, The Biggest Win.
